Paul Smith
Our time with Paul started in an old cobbled Soho street where we were greeted by one of his PAs. Oscar, the director, had slung Paul an old VHS camera early on in the day. Paul was all too quick to play along and have a shoot himself. It was fun roaming through the soho office with piles of fabric and colourful works in progress for a new season. It was a window into the mind of Paul. As you can see from the video, his connection with people has been a factor in his success. After filming Paul in the shop, Paul and Oscar decided the best way to finish the shoot would be to take Paul’s Mini Cooper around the streets of Soho. There was not room for Ruben the cameraman and I, so I reached for the self recording Audio A10x timecoded radio mics and set them to internal record. I’ll be honest I don’t think they ever used that audio in the edit, but it makes for a good story.
